Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and Date Night

So, after a loooooonnnnnngggggg week of home school with my kiddo and my husband doing a TON of house remodeling, we were really in need of a nice evening out for just the two of us.  We decided to have dinner at BJ's Brewhouse and then a movie. This was our second time at BJ's Brewhouse and on our first date there, I signed up to be a BJ Rewards member. It's a pretty cool thing to be a part of because you can use their app and reserve a spot at the restaurant and order your meal ahead of time or even just order your meal to go. You get points added to your account every time you check in at the restaurant too.  Now, this is perfect for us, because usually we have so much trouble trying to find a place that is seating people, with less than a 45 minute wait. I signed onto the app and let them know we were arriving so we wouldn't have to wait. We got there and it worked out great--I just had to show them my membership card and we were seated right away. Love

Body Merry Age Defense Eye Cream Review

I have tried a variety of eye creams since I don't always get as much sleep as I should be getting, resulting in dark shadowy areas under my eyes, and some times deep bags. Not always, but sometimes they're so puffy and dark that I look like I should be on the set of The Walking Dead. I'm kidding.... I was given the chance to try Body Merry Age Defense Eye Cream so here is my review. Company's Product Description Natural and organic anti-aging formula Retinol, hyaluronic acid, peptides, rosehip oil, aloe, green tea, amino acid emulsification, cucumber and more in the ingredients Can be used by women and men Works on all skin types No harsh chemicals My Thoughts I tried this product under my eyes and the first thing that I noticed is that is feels very cooling under my tired eyes. I needed that!  The cool sensation that I get after applying is always more than welcome when I wake up in the morning. It's a tiny pick me up. It'

Kids Academy Apps Review

Do your little ones like playing games on your iPhone or iPad? If so, are the games that they're playing educational?  Since my son was younger, he was always trying to play games on his tablet and on my phone and it's always been pretty important to me to keep track of the types of games that he is playing. There are a ton of games out there that are inappropriate for young children with adult situations and violence too. Luckily, the folks at Kids Academy have quite a few available that are not only violence free, but they're also educational and fun! The first app that we were given the opportunity to try out was called  Learn to Read & Write Kid Puzzles Company's App Description Teaches them how to write upper and lowercase letters Left hand and right hand modes Kids are encouraged/praised at each end of a learning stage 2 levels of difficulty Trace a letter w/ hints Learn how to write independently Kid's learn age-appropriate v

Mega Mesh Magnetic Screen Door Review

I have tried magnetic screen doors before and I could never find one that would fit my mom's door frame. She has a slightly larger than average old door. I was given the opportunity to try the Mega Mesh Magnetic Screen and was anxious to see if it would fit.   Company's Product Description Has strong magnets sewn in, providing seamless automatic closure High quality micro mesh that can keep the smallest bugs out Easy install bug screens can stay up and withstand heavy traffic Great for use in RVs Effective for pest control Fits easily where swing doors can't fit Magnetic hands-free entry Easy installation Comes with push-pins as well Pet friendly access Low-cost way to economically cool your home Protection for your family from invading insects My Thoughts Everything that came in the bag--instructions, magnetic screens, velcro strips, push pins This what the screen looked like when layed out on the floor This is where the ve

Over the past few months I have been trying to swap out several of the regular skin care products that I use for more organic, more chemical-free products. Black Magic Woman by Eric Wilder Book Review

Got finished reading another book. I love how often I get to read new books! So much fun.  Title: Black Magic Woman (French Quarter Mystery #4) Author: Eric Wilder Genre: Paranormal Synopsis: Burdened by spring floods, malaria and yellow fever, citizens of New Orleans often turned to voodoo practitioners-African Rosalie, Sanite Dede, Bras Coupe-for protection. None was more powerful, or feared, than Doctor John or Marie Laveau. After P.I. Wyatt Thomas encounters a ghost during a hospital visit, he tells the story to his sometimes business partner, voodoo mambo Mama Mulate. She puts him in a trance and channels the ghost, soon learning a curse connects him and a long-dead French aristocrat. They are doomed to remain connected forever, unless Wyatt can return to old New Orleans and lift the curse before midnight on New Year's Eve. My Thoughts I've been to Louisiana a few times, mainly New Orleans and Baton Rouge. It was always dark and grey when I was

Keeping it Cool With My Hydracentials Water Bottle Review

What's the latest product that I was sent to review? It is called the Hydracentials Sporty 25 oz Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle!  Company's Product Description 25 oz Stainless steel water bottle Flip cap and straw BPA free and eco-friendly Double wall vacuum insulation that keeps drink cold for hours Fits great in most car cup holders For cold liquids only My Thoughts I drink a ton of water daily but sometimes I like it really cold and it definitely doesn't stay cold for too long in a disposable plastic water bottle. I've even used a few plastic refillable water bottles that I've put a ton of ice in, only for the ice to melt and the water gets warm so quickly. In this Texas heat where I live, I want my water to stay as cold as possible for a long time. I was really excited when my Hydracentials bottle arrived in the mail. First off---it's a very pretty bottle (see the pics above?) I love the way that it looks.

Curl Those Lashes with Bella and Bear Review and Giveaway! Ends 9/23/14!

I have really long lashes. They are also naturally curled upward. I love them, but sometimes I want them to be even more dramatic . I've only used an eyelash curler a few times though because some are cheap and fall apart, hurt a little, or just don't fit my eye shape very well. Bella and Bear was so kind to send me a pair of theirs to review called the Eye & Mighty Eyelash Curler. I love the color of the handles and the packaging was very cute and feminine. I like that.   Company's Product Description No pinch, no pain curling Non slip handle Ergonomic design, to get every lash Curls and lifts like no other eyelash tool Spring loaded handle to give you more lift with less pressure For added drama add 1 coat of mascara Add 2 coats for a dramatic look   My Thoughts  Here are some photos of my lashes before using the curler. Yes, I know--they're really long! I used it and the first thing that I noticed was that these f

Organic Flax Seed Review

I first heard about flaxseed a couple of year's ago. I read about it in some health magazine and learned about how great it is for your health and how easy it can be slipped into a ton of different recipes. I started using it on a regular basis and love it. I happily agreed to try out eSutras Golden Organic Flax Seed. Company's Product Details Helps with heart disease and lowers cholesterol High in Alpha linoleic acid (type of omega 3 fatty acid) Non GMO USDA organic These whole flax seeds can be ground in a coffee/seed grinder to make them easier to digest Can be added to all kids of recipes My Thoughts Since these are whole seeds, I did as the company suggested and used a coffee grinder to grind up the seeds. I ground up a little bit of the seeds at a time until I had done the entire container. Then, I refilled the container with the freshly ground up seeds. It didn't all fit, so I put the rest in a Ziploc bagg
