So, after a loooooonnnnnngggggg week of home school with my kiddo and my husband doing a TON of house remodeling, we were really in need of a nice evening out for just the two of us.
We decided to have dinner at BJ's Brewhouse and then a movie.
This was our second time at BJ's Brewhouse and on our first date there, I signed up to be a BJ Rewards member. It's a pretty cool thing to be a part of because you can use their app and reserve a spot at the restaurant and order your meal ahead of time or even just order your meal to go. You get points added to your account every time you check in at the restaurant too.
Now, this is perfect for us, because usually we have so much trouble trying to find a place that is seating people, with less than a 45 minute wait. I signed onto the app and let them know we were arriving so we wouldn't have to wait.
We got there and it worked out great--I just had to show them my membership card and we were seated right away. Love that so much.
We ordered a couple of appetizers--stuffed mushrooms and fried artichokes with lemon aioli sauce. Both were really good.
My husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich with wedges and coleslaw.
I ordered the Cherry Chipotle glazed salmon with couscous and seasonal veggies. I'm a veggie addict so I had to get my veggie fix. :)
Both meals were really good, although I think that the couscous was slightly over cooked.
What was nice was that as a Rewards Member we were also given the option of buying discounted movie tickets to any movie of our choice at a nearby theater. We jumped at that since we were already on going to see a movie anyway.
We skipped dessert since we were really full and headed to our movie.
We didn't have too many choices since it was late but we didn't mind since Dawn of the Planet of The Apes was still showing. We loved the first one and had been wanting to see the second one since it came out.
Have you seen it yet??
I am so happy that we finally got to see the movie. I don't think that it was nearly as good as the first, but it was still pretty awesome. I was a little worried at first that it might bore my husband since several scenes were done in sign language between the apes---you had to do a lot of caption reading. I looked over at my husband and he whispered, "This movie's great" and he had a big smile on his face. I was thinking the exact same thing. There were a few holes here and there, and a lot of CGI effects, but the movie was still worth seeing.
Anyway,
We had such a good night together. I don't remember the last time we got a chance to have dinner and a movie without being too sleepy to make it to the movie. We had a nice dinner and an awesome movie and spent the rest of the night just talking about everything and anything, like we used to.
We also got a lot of extra sleep in, that we've been needing for days, since our kiddo was at his grandma's for the night.
I can't wait till we get to do it all again.
