Being human is a lot of hard work - the slightest thing can put us in a bad mood, and it’s hard to stay positive all the time. If you’re not sure what we mean, just think back over the day you just had - what small things annoyed you and made you just a little less happy than you had been before? There’s bound to be something.
The good news is that although there are many things that can make us irritated and negative, there are also plenty of things that can make us positive - sometimes those things are actually one and the same, and it’s all about perspective. One such thing is your hair - it can affect your mood in all kinds of ways, so let’s see what that means and ensure your hair makes you feel positive more than it makes you feel negative going forward. Read on to find out more.
The Right Style
The great thing about having hair, for those people who are lucky enough to have it, of course, is that you can do pretty much anything you want with it (although not too much - we’ll get to that later). That means you can change your style whenever you want to, helping you feel a lot more positive about yourself and everything around you.
It’s all down to finding the right style for you. Even if you’ve had your hair looking one specific way for years and you’re used to it, that doesn’t mean it’s the right style for you, and it might be that you need something new, such as bangs for round faces or a dramatically short cut after wearing your hair long for decades.
Take your time considering this. It’s true that hair will grow back or grow out, but the last thing you’ll want is to make yourself unhappy with the wrong style while you’re waiting for that growth. Consider your options, speak to stylists, and give things a try - you might improve your mood significantly.
The Right Color
Your hair is a certain color when you’re born, that can often change as you get older, and then it sets itself somewhere before it starts to turn gray and eventually white. That’s what usually happens, and it can be upsetting - it can be something that puts people in a very bad mood.
Although some people are more than happy to enjoy the gray hairs when they come (and for some, it’s actually what suits them best), others get distracted and negative when they notice a gray hair or two in the mirror. Still more just don’t like their hair color, period - it’s not about whether it’s gray or not, it’s about the color itself. They’d rather be blonde or brunette or a redhead - anything but the color they actually are.
Well, that’s not a problem at all. You can easily pick up hair dye at the supermarket or pharmacy and change your look almost instantly. If you’re not sure about what color you want to go for, get a dye that washes out after a few washes and experiment. You’ll come across something you love in the end, and it might be something rather surprising - green, pink, or blue hair can look amazing!
The Wrong Treatments
As we said, your hair can make you feel great - there’s nothing to compare to that just-left-the-salon feeling - but it can also make you feel awful and negative, and that can be the case if you use the wrong treatments or too many treatments. Too much heat from things like hair dryers and straighteners or too many chemicals can damage your hair and leave it looking dry or brittle, or perhaps oily, depending on what you’ve done and what you’ve used.
If that’s the case, it’s always good to speak to an expert about how to fix things because there will be options for you. The key is to stop what you’re doing and pause - work out what the issue actually is, and then you can come up with a plan to change things for the better.
It’s easy to go wrong when you have hair to take care of, especially if you’re keen to improve how it looks and you’re overwhelmed by the choices you can make, but you need to remember that it’s also easy to put things right again, so no matter what you feel about your hair, there’s a chance to use it to put yourself in a more positive mood at all times.
