Alright, so, I remember as a kid, I actually enjoyed my math class. Well, I enjoyed pretty much all of my classes. I know not everyone had the same experience or opinion about school or math, and many kids nowadays might not be crazy about any of it either.
My own kids are homeschooled by yours truly and when they seem like they might be getting a tad bit bored of a subject, I will get online and find something more entertaining, yet still educational, that I think they will want to try out.
Calculators.org is a great example. Not only can you find a variety of online calculators for loans, mortgage, investing, business, health and fitness calculators, scientific calculators, and many more. (You can use those to teach your kids a thing or two, or even for your own use.)
The best part of the site though, are the math games!
You don't have to worry about logging in or downloading anything. You just open up the page on your computer, tablet, or phone, and play. That's perfect, right?
There's games for your little learners, such as Count Fingers. Your child is given a full minute to literally count the fingers shown on the screen. Each time they click on the numbers at the bottom and get the correct answer, then it will quickly change to the next one. If they get the answer incorrect, it's game over.
They can also learn how to add up items from the store and enter them up as a cashier in a game called Grocery Cashier. They have to enter each price into the register and calculate the total at the end. I like how at the end it shows the bills and coins used per transaction. It's a fun and useful game that my daughter likes to play.
My daughter also really likes playing Zombie Number Math . Don't worry, the graphics are pretty kid friendly, and not realistic at all. The object of the game is to type in the correct answer for the problem before the zombies catch up to you and eat you. You can do addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
My kids have always loved playing matching games. Do yours? They have a game called Memory Math. You can math the answer to different equations. You can also match the number of dots on a dice to the number.
My daughter was struggling to learn her multiplication problems, but this particular game called Multiplication Tables has made it a lot easier for her to remember how to multiply. She's learning them a lot faster and retaining the information better since it's a game.
There are games for all ages and each game has a difficultly level shown beneath them. They also have bubble games, Sudoku, dominoes, burnt match counting, an RPG, maze, racing, and a few more. Again, as I said, they are all family friendly You don't have to stress out about any inappropriate content, or any downloads.
Don't forget to check the site out on your own or with your kiddos. How do you feel about math? Did you struggle with it when you were in school? Let me know in the comments below!
