You know, I used to work out a lot before I had my daughter...
I used to go to one of the those expensive gyms that sucked you right in and got you stuck in a two year contract.
First off, the fees were pretty ridiculous and there were only so many locations available that were near where I lived. It was a bit of a pain. Not only that. There were times that it would get so crowded at a few of the locations that I visited. That was not very comfortable to me.
I did take classes that were fun, but again, those would get super full and so I had to get there extremely early to make sure that I would be able to have a spot.
Worst part about this whole thing? I ended up being billed after the gym supposedly lost my contract that had ended months prior. It was a whole nightmare.
Long story short--I don't plan on going back to that particular big name gym again. In fact, it made me not want to go to a gym for a good while.
Now that my daughter is a bit older and a easier for my husband to watch when I'm not around, I knew it would be a good time to start working out even more than I was already doing at home.
You can imagine how happy I was when I was offered the opportunity to join ClassPass for a month.
What is ClassPass?
It recently has come to San Antonio, where I live, and I couldn't be happier. Yes, it is a monthly membership, but it's better than your typical gym membership. There are so many locations around town, as well as a nice variety of classes, to pick from.
I can go to a yoga class one day and then a zumba on another. I can take a pilates class and then a cycling class later that day or a few days after. I can find the particular studio that is in an area I am near or just want to go to. I just have to find a day and time that works with my own schedule!
Another neat thing is that I can do all this from the free app they have available. It's extremely easy to reserve a class with the push of a button.
So far, I have already taken 3 classes.
My very first and second classes were both yoga classes, but they were not the same.
Both classes ended up being in the same studio, but on different days, at different times, and with different instructors.
My most recent class was a box and burn class. You see, I'm the type of person who loves to try new things and since I've never tried a boxing class before, I thought it would be cool to give it a shot. That's another great thing about this membership. You can pick a class on impulse the day before if you want. It's what I did.
Let me tell you guys---it was such an intense workout, but I loved it so much and now I want to take another one!
As for the size of the classes, they have all been very small. In fact, I was the only person at my boxing class, so it ended up being more like having a personal trainer for the day.
No biggie! I'd rather have one on one training than a super full class like at the gym I used to go to.
ClassPass is seriously great. It has motivated me to want to workout more than before. It has given me something to look forward to doing during the week.
