Shapeshifters Control Our Lives!
The frightening power of vampires, werewolves, and lycanthropes has lived within our nightmares for centuries, failing to be reasoned out by the rapid advances in science and technology. The truth is that they are very much a part of our reality. However, they are merely the genetically inferior offspring of a more powerful race, known as doppelgangers, who evolved alongside humankind. These shapeshifters adopted a secretive yet manipulative approach when dealing with us, feeding off the sexual desires of men to sustain their society...until desperate times forced a new order. Christopher Sands, a rising investment banker, was just another victim in a long list of doppelganger schemes. Framed for a crime he wouldn't commit and watching his family fade farther and farther from his prison bars, Chris makes an unbelievable discovery: shapeshifters aren't the only race with supernatural abilities. Can he find the strength to accept an even worse fate than prison to not only save his son, but also all humankind? Will Michael Sands be able to control the spirits that haunt him to finish what his father cannot?

My Opinion On This Book
Did you read the entire synopsis? After reading that I was really looking forward to see how well this story would play out.

Christopher Sands, an investment banker-poor guy getting caught up somehow in a doppelganger scheme. Doppelganger equals shapeshifter, by the way, in case you had no idea...What could a simple banker have that the doppelganger race could possibly want or need?
He's framed and locked up because of it? Forced to leave his wife and child, forced to spend years behind bars, surrounded by several real hard and dangerous criminals.
Furthermore, his only son, although he never got to know his father, is later cursed with the same fate.
I won't get into exactly why the doppelgangers want the Sands' men so badly, because I don't like to give out big spoilers, but I will say that the story kept me entertained from the first to last page.

I love books about vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beings, but all of the more recent ones are pretty similar. This book is unique.
There was a lot of action, a lot of blood, some very light comedy, and several steamy erotic scenes. I think I blushed a little each time someone walked in when I was reading this book...I didn't stop reading though...

I do so love that the author focused mainly on the doppelgangers and spirit walker instead of just on the vampires and werewolves. You don't find too many good stories about doppelgangers, well at least I haven't really read any others.
I love how scientific he got with the story line. It just made it seem more realistic. And, yes, the title of the book is perfect for the story- a nice play on words...
The characters in this book were all very well developed and the story just flowed smoothly. This is another book that I would love to see as a movie. I think it would be successful!

I will most definitely be reading more of Dr. Shawn Phillip's books in the future. He is an excellent writer, who left me wanting to read more and more.
