My Thoughts About Maca
I normally take Spirulina, which is also a superfood, which does many of the same things that Maca can do. I decided to take a break from the Spirulina to see what Maca could do for me.
This is what one capsule looks like, not too big, and easy to swallow, not much of an aftertaste.
You can take 1 capsule 1 to 2 times daily. I took one in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner for a few weeks.
I noticed that I did feel a lot more alert and awake, which was great for my really busy days. I'm a stay at home mom, I homeschool my 5 year old, I cook, I clean, I blog, and then some. I welcome anything that is natural that can wake me up without causing a crash. This product does that. Great :)
I also don't mind taking this because I have not had any side effects--no jitteriness, no heart palpitations, no over-excitability, or any other negative effects.
I was looking forward to trying this product also since I have heard so many good things about its effects on hormones and reproductive health. You see, after becoming pregnant with my son, he kind of threw my hormones more out of wack than before I was pregnant.
Sorry if TMI but,
My menstrual cycle is not always very regular. Let me tell you something that happened right away and yes it did surprise me. I tend to get very moody before my cycle. Ha, after taking these for a few weeks, when it came time for me to PMS, I wasn't nearly as cranky. Might not sound like much, but believe me, it's the truth. Also, my cramps weren't too bad, which was wonderful. This makes me very happy. Apparently it must be something for my hormones.
As for libido?? Never really had much of a problem there, but maybe I'll see some kind of difference the longer I keep taking these capsules.
Also, although I do have a son, I have had fertility issues and cysts growing in the past. It would be great if these capsules could help with that when my husband and I decide to start trying to have our next little one in the next few years! We shall see...
I love that they are good for both men and women so maybe I might slip a few in my husband's foods/drinks?? Not for libido but maybe for extra energy since he does A LOT of work remodeling houses. He doesn't always get too much sleep, so these might help give him an extra boost every now and then.
Very good product. I will probably alternate these every couple of days with my Spirulina or use whenever I run out of Spirulina.
