I'm a veggie LOVER. Seriously. If there were only veggies around that I could eat, I'd be one happy camper. I'm not fully vegetarian, but I do prefer to eat vegetarian meals as often as possible. So, yes I wanted to review this Spiral Slicer from Super Swizz.
My Thoughts on This Product
I already have one of these from a different brand that I like to use, but I really wanted to see if this one was any better. I love these sorts of products because I mainly eat vegetarian meals and it helps me come up with more creative veggie dinners. I can make veggie "pasta", salads and garnishes out of squash, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, and potatoes. The carrots and potatoes are a little bit trickier for me, but it can still be done. You can boil the "noodles" or saute them of just eat them cold in a salad. Love the idea!
I don't know if it is just mine, but the lid does not stay on. I guess it's not necessarily important to keep it on when using, but mine just falls right off.
Also, please be careful when twisting the veggies in the spiraler. Those blades are very sharp and if you're not careful, you might scrape or nick your fingers/hands. Do use the enclosed brush--so happy it came with that, because it makes it a million times easier to clean those tiny ninja blades. (My other one did not come with this very handy little brush, so more points to you, Super Swizz!) Then you can just toss it in the dishwasher!
I also like the bright green color. It's different. The other one I have is just a boring white color.
All in all, I love the whole concept of this product. I do, however, wish that there was an easier way to insert your veggies without getting your fingers close to those blades. Do not let your kiddos use this. It's not a toy, even though it kind of looks like one!
It's called the BEST Spiral Slicer, but honestly it's not the best that I've tried. It's good, but not great.
