My Thoughts on This Product
I really, really, really wanted to try this product. Why? Because I am a fan of the Dr. Oz show--don't laugh--but I am. He has gone on and on about how great raspberry ketones are and so duh, naturally, I wanted to try them.
I'm in no way overweight, but I do have some extra weight on my stomach, legs, and arms that I have been trying to shed but they just seem to stay with me no matter how much I workout. I thought maybe this might be something worth trying.
Okay, let me start with the capsules. They smell like raspberries (so good!), and they are a little big, but very easy for me to swallow with water. I take one in the morning and one in the evening, before meals. They are 100% natural, with no fillers, which is wonderful. They don't taste bad at all. They taste like raspberries. Of course I don't mind that.
Here's what I did notice though. They make me burp a bit. Sorry if that's gross?? But, I'm being honest. I find myself burping more often and when I do, all I taste are raspberries. I guess that's not too bad. At least they're not making me gassy in other ways...
The first week I took them, ate whatever I wanted. Keep in mind that I mostly eat a vegetarian diet. I add veggies to everything, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Most times all I eat are veggies because I love them. However, I did eat some pizza that week as well as some hot chicken bites. And on another day I did eat a bit of coffee cake and a chocolate bar. I worked out twice that week and it was mostly cardio. At the end of the week I weighed myself and noticed that I had lost 1.5 of those pounds that have been stuck on me FOREVER. I assumed that it must have been the ketones. I've had a couple of pounds that have not gone away and one and a half finally had.
I got a bit too excited.
I started to notice that if I took one in the morning, I didn't really feel hungry and I would do my daily workout and then eat lunch. It actually did work great for my appetite. My normal big servings of food (even though they are always pretty healthy), were cut done by about a third. I just didn't feel as hungry, nor did I get cravings for unhealthy things as often. I saw some sweets around the house and didn't eat any.
I did feel like I had a bit of extra energy throughout the day and was able to get through my workouts just fine. I checked my weight again during that week and had shed a little over another pound. Yay, right?
Well since then, I have still been working out each day, but not losing any more weight. It's been about two and a half weeks since I started taking the raspberry ketones. In fact, I gained back those two pounds. But, here's the thing. I have been doing some pretty intense workouts and although I've gained the pounds back, I am positive that it is from muscle, not fat. I strongly believe this because I measured my legs, waist, and hips at the beginning of the workout challenge and have lost about an inch on my legs and half an inch around my waist. Not much around my hips though. Still working on it, and not giving up.
So, my final opinion on the raspberry ketones is that, they might work for weight loss for some people, but I don't know if they can make you lose a significant amount. Perhaps they might just shed water weight, or maybe they they really do burn fat and boost your metabolism. I don't know for sure if they will work for you, but they seemed to burn a little for me. Also, aside from the raspberry flavored burps, I do believe that they work GREAT as an appetite suppressant because I still haven't felt the need to eat as much.
My best advice if you are looking to lose weight, is to eat as healthy as possible, tons of veggies and fruits, water, herbal and green sugarless tea, cut back on the sweets and alcohol, and get as much exercise as you can. I'm not a doctor, although this product may say that it is all natural, I would consult your own healthcare practitioner, especially if you have any health conditions, about whether or not these are safe for you to take.
