L'Oreal Paris Magic BB Cream Review (She Speaks)

Anyone who knows me knows that I love makeup. I don't have the most flawless skin, so I feel that I need to wear makeup everyday, especially when I leave the house. As a member of She Speaks I was given a free sample of L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream. How awesome is that? If you are the type of person who stays up to date with makeup trends, then you know that BB cream is very popular right now.

Why is BB cream so popular?

Well if you don't know--let me tell you! BB cream is a "blemish balm" or "beauty balm" very commonly used in East Asia. It is supposed to be an all-in-one skin beautifier/corrector that can replace your primer, foundation, moisturizer, Concealer, and even your sunblock. It is also said to continue to perfect and correct your skin the more and more you use it.This is all in one little tube! Because it has been said to work extremely well in Asia, the word has spread to the rest of the world and has jumped to the top of many women and even some men's must have lists.

I've tried one other brand of BB Cream by Maybelline in Medium and it works really well. I was more than excited to try out this one by L'Oreal Paris.

The facts about this product:

  • sells for around $10.95 for 1 oz
  • available in 4 different shades
  • available for purchase at many food and drug stores all around the world
  • contains Panthenol, Glycerin, and Vitamin E
  • has built-in skincare benefits

I opened up the bottle and squeezed a little onto my hand and was surprised at the color. It looked a little bit like melted cookies and cream ice cream in my opinion. I couldn't understand how it was possibly going to match my Medium skin tone. I looked at the little tube and sure enough it said "medium" on it. I read the back and it said the card that came with it and it said "Simply dot on and blend with fingertips. Self-adjusting beads will instantly transform to your skin tone..."---Let me add in that I've heard this all before with a few foundations in the past, that did not really match my skin even though the bottle said they would. I was a tiny bit skeptical, but I knew I had to try it before I could make any final judgements.

A close up of one of my cheeks. See my acne scars?? Horrible. I know.

So, I dotted my face and rubbed it into my skin, making sure to smooth it over my entire face. The white cream kind of did start to "magically" blend in with my skin, but in the end it was still a slight bit lighter. It wasn't thick or heavy, which I liked a lot. It did make my skin look a bit smoother, but my acne scars are pretty deep and so they were still a bit visible. Nothing I didn't expect though. I must admit, however, that it did fit my skin a lot more than my usual foundation! (I can never really seem to find my exact skin tone, no matter what makeup I use.) What did I do after that? I used my normal mineral powder, bronzer, and blush and my makeup looked a lot better!

A picture of me with my finished makeup. If you look really closely at my cheeks and forehead, you might still see my scars, but they are nowhere near as bad as they were before the makeup...

I do know that BB cream is supposed to make your skin better with after using it consistently, and I guess it would be silly for me to assume that after one use my skin would be completely better. (Maybe after a few weeks? I sure hope so!)

~A QUICK NOTE~ I think that if you are the type of person who doesn't have extreme acne scars or really dark blemishes, then this cream may just make your skin look almost flawless with one use.

I do like the product, so I am going to continue using it everyday and will update my blog in a few days to let everyone know if there is a visible difference. I give it 4 stars out of 5 unless it does make some improvements in my skin.
